Monday, August 11: "Aunt Nikki" - commonly known to me as my best friend, Nichole, was so nice to not only pick us up at the airport in Des Moines and drive us to our new home of Pella, but she also stayed with us overnight and hung with us the entire next day until just thirty minutes before Dan finished his 1600 mile trek with the Bern-dog. And whenever you are with Aunt Nikki, there is dancing involved. SOOOO...here we are in the local Jimmy John's raising our hands and praising God. No one knows us yet, right?!
The morning Thomas and I flew out, Dan dropped us off at the airport, loaded up our car with Bernie, our baby girl necessities, Thomas toys, a couple of bags of clothes, and a crock pot (for the hotel!) and started his road trip "home." He was able to crash at Matt and Steph's house in Castle Rock, CO, 13 hours later and finished an additional 12 hours the following day arriving in Pella (after dropping off Bernie with Grandma Kathy in Des Moines) around 9 pm. Praise God for a safe and uneventful trip! Thomas and I anxiously awaited his arrival and Tman was able to enjoy reading a bedtime book with Dad together.
We ventured out the next day and found a store called "Theisen's" - a glorified Bomgaars or Paul's Ace Hardware (depending on what part of the US you are from) - and they even had FREE popcorn to eat while you shopped. Thomas was entertained in the John Deere aisle and didn't complain about "driving" the go-karts parked outside!
Grandma Kathy couldn't wait to see Thomas, so she drove over from Des Moines with Bernie and spent the day with us. We were excited to see both her and Bernie, and Thomas was able to open all of his birthday gifts from her, too! So many things to be thankful for!
And just a few pics of Thomas acting like his big boy cousins going to school - "just wike Hunter-Bean, Mom!"
